What are the costs of the sights in Sri Lanka? What should you take into consideration

Before you travel to Sri Lanka it is good to have a budget of the sights you want to visit.

This way you know in advance how much it will cost you and you will not face any surprises

An entrance ticket must be purchased for almost all attractions in Sri Lanka.

The most popular attractions in Sri Lanka use “high” tourist rates. Nevertheless, many of these places are well worth a visit.

If you prefer not to pay a high entrance fee, there is plenty to discover and admire off the beaten paths.

What should you take into consideration

  • Tickets must be paid cash in rupees, on the spot
  • Credit card or debit card are not accepted. Make sure you have enough cash in advance with you. sometimes it is difficult to find a cash machine (ATM) near the sights.
  • At some sight, extra costs are charged for taking photographs and filming.
  • Entrance for children under 3 or 5 years are often free.
  • Children between 5 and 12 years old get a 50% discount at most attractions
